Royal Thief – 13:25 Thurles
✔ Irish jumps racing
✔ Horse is suited by the going
✔ Horse is suited by the course
✔ Horse is suited by the distance
Royal Thief didn’t need to be at his best when winning a novice hurdle at this course recently, a race which has been working out well of late. He stayed on to lead soon after the last and was well on top come the finish. He remains capable of better, particularly if putting in a slightly better round of jumping, and has a good opportunity to make it back-to-back victories.
Paths of Glory – 13:55 Newcastle
✔ UK Flat racing
✔ Horse is in form
✔ Horse is an improver
✔ Horse is top on weight-adjusted ratings
Paths of Glory recorded wins at Chepstow and over this C&D before completing the hat-trick with a determined success at Wolverhampton last month. He took his form to another level that day, finding plenty to lead at the post, and remains of interest for the Hugo Palmer yard. The runner-up at Wolverhampton has since won, and a 7 lb rise may not be enough to stop Paths of Glory making it four wins on the bounce.
