Myristica has made a positive start over hurdles for David Pipe, building on her debut experience to win her next three starts, and she shaped better than the bare result on her handicap debut at Market Rasen when last seen in July. She was well backed on that occasion and left the impression she is on a good mark, but the test of stamina on saturated ground took its toll in the closing stages. Conditions at this sharper track will be much more in her favour now and she can resume winning ways after a break.

Nezeeh sweated up beforehand but looked a good prospect when making a winning debut at Thirsk last month, knowing his job well but showing a good turn of foot to burst clear of his rivals in the closing stages. He was well in command that day and also left the impression he has plenty more to offer. Interestingly, he has been gelded since, but he sets a good standard on form even with his penalty, and is fully expected to follow up.
