Silent Witness is a five-year-old mare who has only seen the track three times, but she has shown ability on each occasion, and is the type to improve further now sent handicapping for an in-form yard. She had no extra in the closing stages over seven furlongs last time, so the drop to six furlongs should suit better. An opening mark of 58 is more than workable and this doesn't look the deepest handicap, so she makes a fair bit of appeal.

Mehmo hasn't been with Mick Appleby long, and left the impression he is ready to strike when shaping better than the bare result over five furlongs at Lingfield earlier this month. He left the impression he needed more emphasis on stamina on that occasion, making headway a furlong out and doing all of his best work at the finish. The extra furlong, plus the longer straight at this venue, will be in his favour, and he is well up to winning races from this mark.
