Nick Vedder is on a lengthy losing run, but he has been given a big chance by the handicapper (now 14 lb lower than his last winning mark), and he produced his best effort of the year following a nine-week break when third at Kempton last month. He travelled well on that occasion and was doing all of his best work at the finish, coming from further back than the two that beat him, and the horses who finished fourth and fifth have boosted the form since. The return to a longer trip should suit and he is one to be interested in with that run under his belt.

Rough Diamond confirmed himself a sprinter in form when bolting up in a course and distance handicap at the end of October and he looks very interesting now from 7 lb higher. That race looked competitive on paper, but Rough Diamond blew it apart, and he now appears to be developing into the sprinter he has long threatened to. He also represents an in-form yard who do especially well with such types and he looks a big player here.
