built on the promise of last time, showing he's still capable of smart form after all as he regained the winning thread; chased leader, pushed along over 2f out, stayed on to lead close home; still as game and likeable as ever, and should remain competitive at this level.

under a penalty, didn't have the standout chance suggested by the market and actually turned in another good effort, albeit again aided by a sound ride; dictated, kicked on over 3f out, shaken up around 2f out, headed close home, had the run of the race; this is as good as he is nowadays.

back down in trip/returned to listed level, proved at least as good as ever; in touch, headway under pressure 2f out, every chance final 1f, kept on; is rather caught between 2 stools at present, needing to be well placed to win at this level and a shade too high in the weights to be competitive in top-end handicaps.

after 7 weeks off and on ground firmer than ideal, was again below form; waited with, switched under 2f out, carried head bit awkwardly, not quicken; won a messy Sussex Stakes last year but looks best rated on the balance of his form for now.

All 5 ran. Race Distance Adjustment: +28 yds

Winning Owner: Lady O'Reilly, J P Hames & T Dorman

Time: 1m 37.93s Closing Sectional: (3.00f): 34.70s (107.6%)

A listed event contested by fully exposed sorts, the form nothing special for the grade; the gallop was on the steady side, too.
