is improving all the time and put up a smart effort to land this valuable prize under top weight, having certain advantages on the day but still running down another progressive sort in Dancing Star; well drawn and raced far side, held up, travelled fluently, headway 2f out, switched inside final 1f, stayed on to lead close home; this level of performance suggests that he should be able to make an impact at listed/minor pattern level.

Non Runners: STRONG CHALLENGE (IRE), ALQUBBAH (IRE), SHOW STEALER.

Winning Owner: Mr N. D. Kershaw

Time: 1m 11.86s Closing Sectional: (3.00f): 35.85s (100.2%)

Always an interesting 3-y-o sprint handicap that brings together a host of progressive types and that was the case again, but because of a major draw/track bias that emerged the race proved significantly less competitive than it should have been, low numbers that were drawn and raced towards the far side dominating, and anything that raced central/near side had no chance as it turned out; the pair that pulled clear are progressive types but it can't be said to be solid form in general.

MR LUPTON (IRE) is improving all the time and put up a smart effort to land this valuable prize under top weight, having certain advantages on the day but still running down another progressive sort in Dancing Star; well drawn and raced far side, held up, travelled fluently, headway 2f out, switched inside final 1f, stayed on to lead close home; this level of performance suggests that he should be able to make an impact at listed/minor pattern level.

DANCING STAR couldn't quite complete the hat-trick but ran a belter up in grade and from a 9 lb higher mark than at Goodwood 8 days earlier, and she continues to progress; well drawn, raced far side, close up, travelled strongly, led 2f out, quickened clear entering final 1f, worn down only late on, no extra; open to further improvement, is proving most likeable and will continue to run well.

IKERRIN ROAD (IRE) ran respectably, still in decent heart, but did have more in his favour than most on the day; well drawn, raced far side, chased leaders, driven approaching final 1f, one paced.

VENTUROUS (IRE) again shaped better than the bare result and remains in good form; had a difficult draw as it went, prominent and gradually edged across to far side, went with enthusiasm, driven approaching final 1f, one paced; he shows a lot of speed and should prove as effective at 5f.

KADRIZZI (FR) wasn't disgraced after 11 weeks off but had an ideal track position and wouldn't have finished fifth without that; well drawn, raced far side, mid-division, lost place over 2f out, plugged on.

ACLAIM (IRE) shaped better than the bare result, leaving impression should have finished closer; waited with, travelled well, headway when met some trouble over 1f out, switched entering final 1f, stayed on, finished with running left; remains unexposed after only 4 starts.

LATHOM shaped better than the distance beaten suggests and has shaped on both starts this term as if he's in good heart and not necessarily handicapped out of things, for all that current mark demands some improvement; raced far side, chased leaders, went with enthusiasm, ridden when short of room approaching final 1f, no extra; he's fast and will benefit from a return to 5f.

SIGN OF THE KODIAC (IRE) was well held back on turf, though not ideally drawn; led, ridden when headed 2f out, faded.

UDONTDODOU still looks favourably handicapped and shaped much better than the bare result; had a difficult draw as it went, raced centre, close up, travelled strongly, shaken up approaching final 1f, weakened as poor track position told (not well placed); he remains capable of better and will remain of interest.

MADRINHO (IRE) had little go right in the race and is better judged on previous form; held up, hampered approaching halfway, made late headway without being knocked about.

TWIN SAILS seems to be going the wrong way; mid-division, ridden over 2f out, weakened final 1f; plenty to prove at present.

STILL ON TOP is yet to fire this season, though this can be excused, on the wrong side and taken off his feet back down in trip; poorly drawn, struggled with pace, never on terms; will prove suited by a return to 7f/1m.

TAEXALI (IRE) produced a laboured effort even acknowledging that he was drawn on the wrong side; poorly drawn, chased leaders, went with little fluency, left behind 2f out.

TAWDHEEF (IRE) is best not judged on this run; dropped out and switched from single-figure draw to race more central (poorly placed), made no impression but not knocked about.

SIXTIES SUE is best forgiven the run; poorly drawn, chased leaders, lost place over 2f out, weakened, not well placed.

ELRONAQ easy to put a line through this run; worst of draw, chased leaders until 2f out, weakened, had a hopeless task from position.

RIFLESCOPE (IRE) clearly wasn't 100% on the day; mid-division, off the bridle before most, beaten over 1f out, eased off.
