stepped up on recent run to resume winning ways for in-form yard, this just about a career-best effort, and he's still only lightly raced on all-weather; prominent, raced freely, led 3f out, ridden over 1f out, kept going well; should remain competitive.

well backed, lost little in defeat trying this 5f longer trip, the manner in which he loomed up suggesting there's more races to be won with him from this mark, just flattening out in the final 1f and a return to around 1½m looks the obvious move; held up, travelled strongly, headway out wide 2f out, pushed along 1f out, challenged and edged left final 1f, effort flattened out; will remain of interest.

in a change of headgear, again ran below form and isn't an easy one to be too enthusiastic about despite his falling mark; led, headed 3f out, driven over 2f out, no extra final 1f.

A useful handicap but it was run at a stop-start gallop, the winner always in the right place and showing the benefit of his recent return, seeing it out more strongly than the even-money favourite who loomed up but didn't last out over the extra distance.

SOLENT GATEWAY (IRE) stepped up on recent run to resume winning ways for in-form yard, this just about a career-best effort, and he's still only lightly raced on all-weather; prominent, raced freely, led 3f out, ridden over 1f out, kept going well; should remain competitive.
