ODISSEO got back on the up to add to an impressive strike rate on all-weather; patiently ridden, travelled fluently, headway 2f out, produced to lead final 100 yds, all out to hold on; he's a likeable, strong-travelling type, but it's worth bearing in mind this highly productive winter spell may leave him vulnerable to less-exposed rivals in the spring.

SPINAROUND (IRE) in first-time cheekpieces and gelded since last seen 5 months earlier, showed much improved form; slowly into stride, in rear, driven entering straight, kept on well, just failed; this mark is clearly a handy one after all and he could have more to come, with a top yard and having just his fifth start here.

STORMY OCEAN readily beat a host of subsequent improvers at Newcastle 11 weeks ago and shaped better than the bare result making handicap debut, certainly doing enough to suggest he'll take advantage of this mark another day; prominent but couldn't get in from worst of draw (always 3-wide), effort entering straight, ran green over 1f out, led soon after, headed final 100 yds, did too much too soon; better to come and he's one to note.

DESERT ANGEL (IRE) ran well after 6 months off; waited with, shaken up around 2f out, had to weave way through around 1f out, stuck to task, pulled clear of remainder; only disappointing run since the blinkers went on was possibly ground related and he should remain competitive.

DUNGAR GLORY (IRE) ran creditably after 5 months off but has been handed a stiff-looking opening mark; in touch, weakened final 1f.

TAJ ALOLA (IRE) gelded since last seen 3 months earlier, shaped better than the distance beaten suggests, making his effort earlier than ideal, the outing possibly needed as well; pressed leader, led 3f out, kicked on 2f out, headed around 1f out, no extra; should be a lot closer to form next time.

DAYMAN (GER) upped in trip, making handicap debut, can have this run ignored; chased leader, raced freely, badly hampered by weakening rival 2f out, shuffled right back and not recover; remains with potential.

BELTANE (IRE) upped in trip, making handicap/all-weather debut after 6 months off, shaped as if amiss; led, folded tamely 2f out.
