resumed winning ways, evidently all the better for his Newcastle run, success in this Fast-Track Qualifier putting him firmly in the mix for the Marathon on finals' day, likely to be closely matched with the runner-up again; tracked pace, went with enthusiasm, led over 1f out, tackled entering final 1f, battled well.

stepped up on reappearance run, back to something like his best, losing nothing in defeat to one that bit better positioned than himself, likely to stand a good chance of reversing the form another day; mid-field, headway home turn, effort entering final 1f, kept on well, just failed.

easy to back, looked rusty after 7 months off, and was left poorly placed the way this went; slowly into stride, in rear, took strong hold, still plenty to do over 2f out, ran wide entering straight, not persevered with once held; likely to be much closer to form next time.
