A useful, small-field handicap, though suspect form under desperate conditions, the rain very heavy by this stage, the field, as in the preceding races going far side, Aplomb set to finish third when he fell near the finish, the meeting continuing only after the jockeys decided they would race up the stand side in the remaining races.

PUNCHBOWL FLYER (IRE) is extremely effective under these conditions and came right back to form, the only one to cope fully with testing ground in a downpour; made all, shaken up 2f out, in command 1f out, kept on well.
