had been well backed 2 starts ago and was again supported, back at 6f, under a good claimer, and without headgear this time, everything finally coming together, despite waywardness in the latter stages; close up, ridden over 2f out, led soon after, edged right over 1f out, hung badly left inside final 1f, kept on, ridden out; he may go up more than perhaps justified which will make things tougher next time.

ran creditably, his rider's enterprise in exploring the far side rewarded with second, hard to judge from the rest of the evening whether that was flattering to him or not; raced wide, close up, went far side and ridden over 2f out, kept on.

ran creditably, shaping better than the bare result, much nearer the stands side than all bar one of the rest (that one finishing last); prominent, ridden over 2f out, kept on; will continue to give good account.

wasn't disgraced, on easier ground than he usually races on, still on a fair mark and likely to be back for the final in 2 weeks; in touch, ridden over 2f out, not quicken.

is best not judged on this run, a change of tactics no use to him; soon steadied, labouring over 2f out; he finished seventh, so doesn't qualify for the final, but presumably the class 3 handicap at Epsom at the end of the month in which he was second last year will be his next target.

Quite a competitive handicap on paper, but a messy race, with the field effectively in 2 groups with one solo, the pair that raced near the stand side likely to have been at a disadvantage, judged on the evening as a whole, the third doing well in the circumstances, the form overall probably needing treating with a bit of caution; the pace was a contested one, despite a surprising change of tactics on Ashpan Sam.

ICE AGE (IRE) had been well backed 2 starts ago and was again supported, back at 6f, under a good claimer, and without headgear this time, everything finally coming together, despite waywardness in the latter stages; close up, ridden over 2f out, led soon after, edged right over 1f out, hung badly left inside final 1f, kept on, ridden out; he may go up more than perhaps justified which will make things tougher next time.
