A useful handicap on a Monday for once, competitive for the track with the principals all coming into the race at the top of their game, run at largely a good gallop, saving steadying for the turn, the form likely to prove solid, for all that there was some trouble in running.

WILD HACKED (USA) well backed, proved better than ever for a stable in good heart, probably a shade better than the bare result too; in touch, travelled well, effort when had to wait for gap 2f out, stayed on to lead final 100 yds.

STRATUM ran well, less exposed than most and likely to continue to be of interest as his stamina is drawn out; prominent, travelled well, led over 2f out, ridden soon after, kept on well, headed final 100 yds.

ATHLON (IRE) ran creditably, though without quite delivering all that he promised; held up, travelled well, smooth headway over 3f out, ridden 2f out, not quicken final 1f.

NIBLAWI (IRE) over 2f longer trip, remains in good form, clear excuses for his effort, meeting trouble and perhaps stretched by the trip; held up, headway 4f out, hampered after 2f out, forced to switch left, one paced; will remain of interest.

MASTER OF IRONY (IRE) ran respectably, not doing enough to suggest he's of obvious interest, however; steadied at the start, in rear, effort 3f out, switched soon after, not quicken over 1f out.

THAMES KNIGHT ran respectably, more patiently ridden than usual; held up, ridden over 4f out, stayed on from 2f out, never a threat.

RAVENOUS ran creditably, back down in trip and at a slightly less exacting level; prominent, ridden over 3f out, no extra over 1f out.

ZAMBEASY wasn't disgraced after 5 weeks off, though unable to sustain the gallop he set; led until over 2f out, not quicken, weakened final 1f.

SILVER QUAY (IRE) was well held, turning in another lacklustre display for a stable with a poor strike rate over the last 5 weeks; held up, always behind.

WRANGLER was very easy to back, but shaped as if retaining ability after 26 months off, faring much better than the bare result suggests; held up, took keen hold, headway 3f out, hampered over 1f out, eased off; one to be interested in.

POINT OF VIEW (IRE) left the impression he might have been amiss; in touch, ridden over 3f out, weakened 2f out, eased off.

LOVELY STORY (IRE) in first-time tongue strap, is better judged on previous form, unable to get to the front after problems at the start; slowly into stride, hampered soon after start, weakened 3f out, eased 2f out, never on terms.
