less exposed than rest, but his form last time had been let down since and he wasn't able to build on it on handicap debut, still showing signs of inexperience; tracked pace, ridden 2f out, ran green, not quicken final 1f, eased near finish; may yet do better.

on going firmer than good for the first time since running his best race, in last year's Windsor Castle, was below form in first-time blinkers after 7 weeks off, unsuited by the way the race developed; slowly into stride, held up, switched to rail soon after start, effort over 2f out, kept on, made little impression; not one to write off.

All 9 ran.

Winning Owner: Qatar Racing Limited

Time: 1m 11.65s

Most of these looked exposed and averagely handicapped, the favourite the obvious exception, though he found the switch to handicaps a different kettle of fish; the first 3 were close up from the off, suggesting some advantage in racing prominently, while the winner raced solo to halfway, the extent to which that was an advantage hard to quantify.

NOVA CHAMP (IRE) bounced back to form, though perhaps with an advantage in racing on a different part of the track to the rest; raced alone down centre, close up, labouring 2f out, rallied final 1f, led close home; not sure to back this up.

ISEEMIST (IRE) is running consistently well, narrowly denied a third win of the campaign; close up, led 2f out, kept on final 1f, headed close home.

LINCOLN (IRE) back down in trip, ran creditably, quickly back to form; led 4f, every chance still well inside final 1f, kept on.

MISS LILLIE back down in trip, ran creditably in first-time cheekpieces, doing best of those more patiently ridden; waited with, effort 2f out, kept on.

POLYBIUS less exposed than rest, but his form last time had been let down since and he wasn't able to build on it on handicap debut, still showing signs of inexperience; tracked pace, ridden 2f out, ran green, not quicken final 1f, eased near finish; may yet do better.

MERITOCRACY (IRE) with the cheekpieces quickly discarded, ran respectably, just averagely handicapped; chased leaders, labouring 2f out, one paced.

STRATEGIC FORCE (IRE) wasn't disgraced in first-time blinkers, work to do from this mark on balance of form; in touch, labouring 2f out.
