having just his second try at this trip, shaped well, stepping up on reappearance run and doing enough to suggest he has more to offer this summer; in touch, travelled well, challenged over 1f out, held in close third when hampered final 50 yds, eased immediately; very much one to be interested in in similar company.

lightly raced for age, wasn't discredited off a stiff-enough mark, shaping as if needing run after 13 months off; waited with, effort 3f out, not reach leaders, weakened final 1f; next run likely to give a better idea of whether he has much more to offer.

A fairly useful handicap, in which the leader went off at a good pace, possibly not form to take at face value, with those that came from off the pace possibly slightly flattered, particularly the fourth.
