Good-looking staying chase form, the placed horses arriving on the crest of a wave and the well-handicapped fourth building up a good C&D record; the pace was sound, too.

COLLECTORS ITEM (IRE) posted a career best under a positive ride which made full use of his proven stamina, making most despite the odd iffy jump and, having been joined 3 out, forging clear approaching the last to win ridden out; he'd be an interesting runner in the Midlands Grand National.

KATATE DORI (FR) lost his unbeaten record over fences but remains very much one to be interested in, further improvement surely on the cards if his jumping becomes more polished with experience; he struggled to get into a jumping rhthym after being done no favours by a standing start, a slow leap at the first also contributing to more patient tactics than of late, but he was going smoothly in touch until successive mistakes 5 out, 4 out and 3 out put him on the back foot compared to the other principals, nevertheless staying on well from 2 out to take second on the line.

KING TURGEON (FR) had his winning run ended but produced another career-best effort and should remain competitive in similar company; never far away, jumped accurately, upsides 3 out and 2 out, left behind by winner approaching last, one paced run-in and lost second on line.

CREDO (IRE) goes well here and got back on track in first-time blinkers, going through the race with a bit more conviction than of late and rallying after briefly losing her place when tapped for foot on the home turn; she's back down to her last winning mark and is one to bear in mind if switched to veteran company any time soon.

SIZABLE SAM isn't handicapped out of things on the pick of his form but he's now struggled on 2 of his 3 comeback runs this winter, losing his place leaving the back straight and soon done with after a mistake 4 out.

THE BIG BREAKAWAY (IRE) ran another moody race, taking little interest after a slow getaway and typically none too fluent.

TAKE YOUR TIME (IRE) again showed up well for a long way but this latest capitulation is harder to ignore, the fact he's now been pulled up on 3 of his last 5 starts also hinting at one with problems; he went upsides briefly 3 out here having raced prominently but folded alarmingly approaching the next and was out on his feet when his rider drew stumps at the last.

MY SILVER LINING (IRE) has now been pulled up on 3 of her 4 starts this term and produced an uncharacteristically laboured display in first-time cheekpieces, beaten some way out having gone with little fluency in mid-division.

ASK ME EARLY (IRE) is increasingly hard to catch right nowadays, just about the first beaten here after another lacklustre display.

BALLYGRIFINCOTTAGE (IRE) continues to go through the motions, easy to back and making little impact under another hold-up ride, his jumping not always fluent.
