An open but hardly red-hot renewal shaped by a good pace that lifted still further down the back, leading to a twist or 2 in the straight that began when Sizing At Midnight crashed out at the third last, aggressively-ridden My Way handed a clear lead that was eventually eroded by the closing pack after the last.

EL PRESENTE is standing his racing far better now and gained narrow revenge from the summer over Potterman to bring up a third win in a row - and fourth in 5 starts this season - with his biggest prize yet, his key attributes of jumping and stamina getting him through in a strongly-run race that ended up changing shape; handy, outpaced before 4 out, rallied from next, chased leader 2 out, disputed lead as he and Potterman swallowed up My Way final 100 yds, edged ahead on line; can't go up much and, whilst this went his way, he's still to try long distances and will have plenty of options on that score during the winter.

POTTERMAN continues to hold his form extremely well, albeit with an element of picking up the pieces in this latest second; mid-division, ridden from 5 out, not quicken 3 out, rallied from next, challenged final 100 yds, kept on well, edged out on line.

KITTY'S LIGHT was thwarted in his hat-trick bid but emerged with considerable credit, considering his lack of big-field, big-fence experience and how his race went, a big staying prize in his sights provided his jumping sharpens up; held up, he made several mistakes and was still no better than tenth on the home turn before he wound up, hampered on landing 3 out just as his surge was beginning but finishing so well he'd claimed a place by the end, highlighting once more his remarkable stamina for a youngster.

MY WAY (FR) looks to have come back a different proposition, teed up by a win over hurdles and giving the impression he was at least the second best horse in this far more competitive affair, still a maiden in this sphere but unlikely to remain so for much longer assuming he's given time to recover from this hard race; soon setting a sound pace, he kicked on 4 out and had just been joined when left clear at the next, still holding a 6-length lead at the next before he began to tire, collared inside the final 100 yds and even run out of third close home, likely to see out this sort of trip all the better under a less aggressive ride.

SOME CHAOS (IRE) seemed beaten on merit, up 3 lb in a stronger handicap and having his chance; patiently ridden, steady headway before 4 out, ridden straight, third - just behind eventual winner - when not fluent 2 out, plugged on.

PRESENT MAN (IRE) wasn't disgraced, faced with a stiffer task in this grade (notwithstanding Crosspark's good effort at Sandown the following day) and in the mix for a long way on his fifth appearance - 2 of them wins - in this race; pressed leader until early final circuit, remained prominent, fourth but looking held when forced to switch on landing 3 out, no extra next.

DANNY WHIZZBANG (IRE) was found out in a more demanding race after 9 months off, hardly bags of substance to his small-field novice form, beaten a fair way on both starts after upsetting an off-colour Reserve Tank at Newbury; mid-division, jumped awkwardly, never going well from fourteenth, left behind before 4 out; reportedly bled.

SUPREMELY LUCKY (IRE) was well held back over fences, neither jockey booking nor his SP suggesting much was expected in a competitive handicap; tracked pace, lost place when ridden from fifteenth, struggling before 5 out.

SIZING AT MIDNIGHT (IRE) is running consistently well despite his yard's generally quiet form, a point he might well have capped with a third win in 4 starts had luck not deserted him, his Exeter second hardly let down by Kitty's Light in this; tracked pace, loomed up after 5 out and yet to be asked for effort alongside My Way when fell 3 out.

ERICK LE ROUGE (FR) ended up faring little better than on his return in first-time cheekpieces, his race ending in unpleasant fashion as well; tracked pace out wide, upsides briefly circuit out, lost place when awkward 5 out, struggling next and behind when fell heavily 3 out; he's young enough to believe he'll revive at some point, though.

JUST A STING (IRE) ran poorly after 8 months off, a third successive non-completion; settled mid-field out wide, awkward fifth, struggling quickly early final circuit.

CHAMPAGNE COURT (IRE) can have a line put through this return to chasing, barely having a race under a new rider (replacing injured Nick Scholfield), soon detached without anything alarming having happened and tailed off when pulled up early on the final circuit.
