proved better than ever in making a winning return from 5 months off; never far away, jumped impeccably, led from early final circuit, pressed on early in straight, driven out; clearly in good heart, though it's worth remembering that he's proved vulnerable off higher marks in the past.

was fit from a recent spin on the Flat and ran creditably from a 10 lb higher mark than when winning this race last year; mid-division, in contention end of back straight, challenged 4 out, stuck to task (albeit always held by winner).

is building up something of an all-or-nothing profile and failed to repeat his last effort, a return to his weak-finishing ways clearly the main concern here; waited with, not settle fully, hampered first, in contention home turn, close up when clouted 3 out, found less than looked likely.

looked very rusty over an admittedly inadequate trip after 7 months off, particularly in the jumping department; led from first, headed when bad mistake sixth, behind from early final circuit, never going or jumping with any fluency after.

Non Runners: SPLASH OF GINGE, PAIN AU CHOCOLAT (FR), DINGO DOLLAR (IRE). Fences: 16. Race Distance Adjustment: +12 yds

Winning Owner: Mrs G. Widdowson & Mrs R. Kelvin-Hughes

Time: 4m 47.7s Closing Sectional: (2.25f): 31.9s (104.4%)

Overrounds: Industry SP 111%, Betfair SP 100.4%

A trio of late non-runners plus the favourite flopping meant this fairly valuable event wasn't so strong as it had looked, a couple of significant early jumping errors contributing to a stop-start gallop.

BORN SURVIVOR (IRE) proved better than ever in making a winning return from 5 months off; never far away, jumped impeccably, led from early final circuit, pressed on early in straight, driven out; clearly in good heart, though it's worth remembering that he's proved vulnerable off higher marks in the past.

CRACKING FIND (IRE) ran well to be placed again and is probably summed up by his handicap mark now; in touch, lost place when hampered sixth, every chance home turn, kept on.

COPAIN DE CLASSE (FR) is building up something of an all-or-nothing profile and failed to repeat his last effort, a return to his weak-finishing ways clearly the main concern here; waited with, not settle fully, hampered first, in contention home turn, close up when clouted 3 out, found less than looked likely.

JUST CAMERON easy to back, shaped as if badly needing the run after 7 months off; dropped out, took closer order fourth, led briefly seventh, dropped away end of back straight.

KYLEMORE LOUGH has been given a chance by the handicapper but didn't last long on return from 7 months off, unseating at the first when taking a keen hold at the head of affairs.
