is still finding his feet for this yard, this just his sixth start with them, and he built on a string of second-placed efforts, producing a career best over fences for only his second win in this sphere; in touch, blundered fifth, shaken up between 5 out and 4 out, led 3 out, asserted run-in and stayed on strongly; he's in the BetVictor Gold Cup later this month and will have more chance of getting a run now, but clearly that'll be an altogether more competitive race.

is evidently hard to keep sound, off another 20 months with a reported tendon problem since winning at Newbury, but he's always gone well fresh and proved that he retains his ability; held up, typically travelled well, headway before 4 out, chased leader between 3 out and 2 out, left behind by winner run-in; he's not certain to go the right way from this given his fragility.

looked a bit rusty after 6 months off but also found this test on the sharp side and is sure to benefit from a return to 3m+; pressed leader, led ninth, hit eleventh, headed 5 out, outpaced soon after, plugged on.

A high-end handicap in ratings terms but only 6 lined up, with 4 of them reappearing for the season, and fitness looked an issue for 3 of that quartet, making it relatively uncompetitive.

GUITAR PETE (IRE) is still finding his feet for this yard, this just his sixth start with them, and he built on a string of second-placed efforts, producing a career best over fences for only his second win in this sphere; in touch, blundered fifth, shaken up between 5 out and 4 out, led 3 out, asserted run-in and stayed on strongly; he's in the BetVictor Gold Cup later this month and will have more chance of getting a run now, but clearly that'll be an altogether more competitive race.
