looked a good prospect in making this winning start for new connections (formerly with Guillaume Macaire) after 5 months off, though the presence of his owner-amateur in the saddle does rather temper enthusiasm; waited with, tanked along, took closer order fifth, produced to lead 4 out, awkward 2 out (fluent otherwise), looked in command until idled briefly run-in, all out to hold on (rider dropped reins late on); may do better still.

is a likeable sort and ran well after 9 months off; in touch, typically travelled well, every chance from home turn, rallied well as winner faltered briefly run-in, just failed; he's consistent.

wasn't disgraced over an inadequate trip after 6 months off; prominent, took over ninth, kicked on entering straight, headed when blundered 4 out, mistake again next, one paced latter stages; should be sharper for this and will benefit from return to 3m+.

wasn't seen to best effect at all after 7 months off and is much better judged on previous form; mid-division, not fluent sixth, hampered eleventh, lost place completely when shuffled back 5 out (just as race was beginning to take shape), not recover, not persevered with once held; looks competitively handicapped at present and should be sharper for this.

probably needed the run after 6 months off (easy to back) but still didn't run much of a race over an inadequate trip; made running, headed ninth, clouted eleventh, folded next; hard to catch right nowadays, so not sure to build on this.

seems to be in a lull for now; held up, bad mistake seventh, ridden home turn, folded tamely soon after, possibly amiss; something to prove at present.

Not the most competitive of handicaps, with fitness an issue for most, but the runner-up is a consistent sort and adds substance to the performance put up by the winning French import.
