There were a couple of disappointing efforts from some of the more likely players but this still went the way of a big improver, Suggestion coming through from off the pace to score readily; the gallop was good.

SUGGESTION back down in trip, looked to have been harshly dealt with by the handicapper but showed much improved form to get off the mark, suited by the way the race developed but looking to do it with a bit in hand; raced well off the pace, headway after 3 out, chased leaders between last 2, stayed on to lead last, won readily; further progress likely required once reassessed, but that's not out of the question.

G'DAY AUSSIE ran up to best, suited by the way this developed; raced off the pace, not fluent fourth, headway before 3 out, ran on, never nearer.

MORTENS LEAM wasted no time getting back on track, proving better than ever in fact, and he emerges with credit for faring best of those that raced prominently; close up, travelled fluently, led 3 out, hung right approaching last, mistake there and headed, no extra.

CHARMANT (FR) ran creditably, a mistake at a crucial moment probably stopping him from fully confirming his Carlisle form; mid-field, travelled well, close up before 3 out, every chance when mistake next, kept on.

SNOWED IN (IRE) shaped as if back in form, ridden less forcefully than on recent starts; mid-field, outpaced after 3 out, stayed on after last, not unduly punished; he still figures on a fair mark.

OUR DELBOY ran creditably on handicap debut, highlighting that his opening mark is on the high side, though left the impression that he needs the emphasis more on stamina now; prominent, travelled well, mistake second, led 4 out, headed next, one paced; it's still early days and he's bred to be suited by further, so may yet do better still.

MONFASS (IRE) shaped as if still in good form but was too keen and didn't see things out, a couple of mistakes in the straight not helping, either; raced off the pace, raced freely, good progress before 4 out, close up soon after, mistake 3 out, every chance next, mistake last, weakened; his Doncaster form is working out and he's worth another chance.

QUILL ART proved to be a disappointment; in touch, lost place 4 out, held when mistake last.

MANWELL (IRE) ran poorly, failing to travel with his usual purpose; dropped out, mistake third, off the bridle before most, never on terms.

RATHEALY (IRE) ran no sort of race; led, jumped markedly left, headed 4 out, weakened.
