added to his fine record fresh with a winning return from 6 months off, proving at least as good as ever in the process, resisting a pair who are also ahead of their current mark under a fine ride; pressed leader, jumped boldly, left in front third, pressed on early in straight, untidy last, headed briefly, found extra, proved game; it's only to be hoped he holds his form better this time around.

probably improved a little tried tongue tied on his first outing since leaving Venetia Williams after 7 months off, and he couldn't have shaped much better in defeat, just unable to master another well-treated type who came in for an inspired ride; tracked pace, went on bridle long way, loomed up approaching 3 out, not fluent 2 out, led briefly soon after last, ran on; sure to be of interest again.

had a productive first season over fences and looked even better returning from 6 months off; dropped out, still plenty to do before 5 out, crept closer end of back straight, in touch when shaken up from 3 out, finished well; still only a 6-y-o, he can improve further.

Not the race it once was but this year's renewal has to go down as one of the stronger recent ones, with the 3 who pulled well clear of the 2014 winner all having plenty to recommend them; in addition, it was a proper test of stamina and jumping thanks to the free-running winner.

VILLAGE VIC (IRE) added to his fine record fresh with a winning return from 6 months off, proving at least as good as ever in the process, resisting a pair who are also ahead of their current mark under a fine ride; pressed leader, jumped boldly, left in front third, pressed on early in straight, untidy last, headed briefly, found extra, proved game; it's only to be hoped he holds his form better this time around.

FINAL ASSAULT (IRE) had a productive first season over fences and looked even better returning from 6 months off; dropped out, still plenty to do before 5 out, crept closer end of back straight, in touch when shaken up from 3 out, finished well; still only a 6-y-o, he can improve further.

SWIFT ARROW (IRE) again ran poorly; raced off the pace, ridden from eleventh, no response.
