A good-quality renewal of this valuble staying handicap and the form has a solid look, the winner adding to his success in last season's Welsh National and leading home in second and third one not long with Willie Mullins and a previous winner of the race, the fourth, fifth and sixth all also close to form and showing enough to think they'll be of interest soon; the pace was good but only the second made major headway from behind.

IWILLDOIT lacked nothing in sharpness after more than a year off and proved better than ever as he added a second big staying prize to his portfolio, as at Chepstow completing the task with aplomb; in touch, jumped well, travelled well, jumped on 2 out, in command final 1f, driven out; he's got all the attributes to win more good races.

MR INCREDIBLE (IRE) shaped well with a strong finish from much further back than the other principals, the longer trip clearly right up his street; held up, crept closer from fourteenth, not fluent 2 out, stayed on strongly from last, went second final ½f; his quirks mean he comes with obvious risks but he's just 2 starts into life with his outstanding trainer and could well be primed to win a big pot.

NOTACHANCE (IRE) ran well, not the same force as when winning this off 9 lb higher in 2021 but clearly competitive again now; prominent, shaken up 4 out, went second last, stayed on.

GUETAPAN COLLONGES (FR) shaped as if still in good form, tackling a better class of rival over a longer trip than before, also going a rather circuitous route; raced wide, mid-division, mistake first, in touch circuit out, pushed along 4 out, no extra from home turn; there should be more handicap chases in him.

VOLCANO (FR) ran well considering the toughness of the task from 10 lb wrong, his effort boding well for his prospects back off his proper mark, especially if returned to this track where he goes so well; made running, jumped boldly, headed 5 out, no extra before last.

THREEUNDERTHRUFIVE (IRE) without cheekpieces this time, was better than the bare result, not getting home upped in trip on very testing ground; prominent, travelled well, jumped on 5 out, headed when mistake 2 out, lost second last, weakened; he's on the radar for a good handicap back around 3m in the coming months.

LORD DU MESNIL (FR) failed to build on the promise of last run, never really threatening to improve his position; mid-field, mistake third, not fluent 5 out, made no impression; he was ridden more forcefully for his best runs.

GRAND MOGUL (IRE) was always right out the back and pulled up after the thirteenth, his rider at least sparing him a hard race over a much longer trip than before.

WOULDUBEWELL (IRE) ran poorly; mid-field, off pace eleventh, well beaten after thirteenth.

NESTOR PARK (FR) ran poorly; in touch, reminders eleventh, lost place before fourteenth, soon beaten.

GRUMPY CHARLEY wasn't in the same form as last time, possibly finding the race coming too soon; in touch, not fluent fifth, lost place twelfth, well beaten thirteenth.

COMMODORE (FR) ran no sort of race; in rear, went with little fluency, slow seventh, pulled up circuit out.

DINGO DOLLAR (IRE) ran badly, on ground he's mostly avoided over the years; held up, tailed off circuit out.
