cut a fine sight as she took her chasing record to 2-2, taking useful scalps on both occasions, untroubled by the step up in trip but winning the race through speed and enthusiasm as much as anything, attacking most of her fences and keeping up the gallop; made all, jumped boldly (despite going right fifth/sixth) and went with zest, still tanking along when bit low 4 out and pecked next, threatened as a result only to open up from 2 out, ridden out to maintain her advantage; she's a smart mare in the making, which is handy in the first season of a Cheltenham Festival chase confined to her own sex.

wasted no time getting her chasing career back on track, reverting to looking the useful novice she had at Fontwell, no shame in coming off second best to a potentially very good one; avoided mistakes, settled in touch, went prominent circuit out, chased leader 2 out (briefly looked as though race might have been teed up perfectly) but no further impression and held run-in.

has improved with each run for a small stable going well, benefiting as expected from the step back up in trip while seeming to find even this barely enough of a test; held up, jumped better as race wore on, in touch 5 out, outpaced after next, rallied from 2 out; she's on her way to proving a useful staying chaser.

shaped as if full value for his defeat of the winner's stablemate at Bangor, appearing to pay for having first crack at Zambella in the most intense part of the race; chased leader, loomed up from 5 out, pushed along entering straight, held from 2 out, tied up run-in and even run out of third late on.

didn't run much of a race, her fall last month perhaps leaving a mark, soon taken out of her comfort zone back down in trip on a sharp track in a race that saw the winner go hard; in touch when slow first, off pace next, never going well from early final circuit, struggling 5 out.

a progressive novice hurdler last season, should learn from this chasing debut experience, asked a big question first time in this sort of company after 10 months off; raced off the pace, jumped tentatively, struggling from eleventh; will prove a different proposition in calmer waters.

The strongest renewal yet, with only Diva de Vassy easily crossed off on paper, and it didn't disappoint, with the winner worth an especially positive word for maintaining a strong pace as she did, putting pressure on some of her rivals and running the finish out of the one who looked her main danger for most of the back straight.
