had a race to show him to maximum advantage and was helped by the weight-for-age scale, but he still looked a smart prospect in making a winning switch to fences, scoring just as he had in the juvenile hurdle on this card last autumn; led, jumped well, went with enthusiasm, quickened clear after 3 out, impressive; sure to go on to better things.

built on chasing debut promise, though he got the most judicious ride of the 3 main challengers to the winner and is probably flattered to beat the other pair so well as he did; in touch, not fluent sixth, pushed along seventh, awkward ninth, went second last, no match for winner.

went backwards from chasing debut, early efforts to keep pace with the winner proving too much for him; took keen hold, disputed lead first, tracked pace after, not fluent eighth, pushed along, weakening when hung left early in straight.

after 9 months off, failed to match his useful hurdles form on his chasing debut, though was better than the bare result, paying for trying to challenge the winner in the back straight, the pressure on his jumping telling late on too; in touch, went second fifth, challenged briefly seventh, ridden when blundered 3 out, left behind soon after, mistake 2 out, weakening when blundered last; will improve.

A typically small field for this event, though 4 were useful over hurdles and the winner looks set to be even better over fences, taking to it really well and putting his rivals to the sword.

ALLMANKIND had a race to show him to maximum advantage and was helped by the weight-for-age scale, but he still looked a smart prospect in making a winning switch to fences, scoring just as he had in the juvenile hurdle on this card last autumn; led, jumped well, went with enthusiasm, quickened clear after 3 out, impressive; sure to go on to better things.

ZANZA (IRE) built on chasing debut promise, though he got the most judicious ride of the 3 main challengers to the winner and is probably flattered to beat the other pair so well as he did; in touch, not fluent sixth, pushed along seventh, awkward ninth, went second last, no match for winner.

STOLEN SILVER (FR) went backwards from chasing debut, early efforts to keep pace with the winner proving too much for him; took keen hold, disputed lead first, tracked pace after, not fluent eighth, pushed along, weakening when hung left early in straight.

FRED (FR) after 9 months off, failed to match his useful hurdles form on his chasing debut, though was better than the bare result, paying for trying to challenge the winner in the back straight, the pressure on his jumping telling late on too; in touch, went second fifth, challenged briefly seventh, ridden when blundered 3 out, left behind soon after, mistake 2 out, weakening when blundered last; will improve.

FIVE STAR GETAWAY (IRE) showed nothing after 10 months off, very much up against it at this level on chasing debut; in rear, lost touch seventh.

DUN BAY CREEK was out of his depth; in rear, lost touch seventh.
