took her impressive start over fences to a different level, taking a notable scalp under the sort of ride that brings out the best in her, nothing like her staying relatives and using that speed/enthusiasm to upset the odds-on favourite; she made all, jumped superbly and was always doing enough having quickened on the home turn, extending her winning spree to 4; Aintree would be tailor-made for her in the spring, but there's such as the Kingmaker back here to consider before then.
made all, jumped very well, quickened home turn, threatened from 2 out, ridden out

whose progress as a novice hurdler saw him sign off with a second in the Supreme, shaped perfectly well in defeat sent chasing after 8 months off, no shame at all in losing out to a rival already up and running in this sphere, conceding experience, race sharpness and track position to that rival around a speed-favouring course; chased leader, jumped adequately, took keen hold, closed down leader home turn, untidy 2 out, ridden after, stayed on run-in, held final 50 yds, found this barely enough of a test; likely to be suited by 2½m, he's sure to progress and win races in this sphere.

fairly useful over hurdles for Nick Williams, faced a stiff task with the front pair but showed aptitude for chasing after 8 months off; third, lost ground over seventh, rallied 3 out, beaten when mistake last; entitled to do better in calmer waters, especially handicaps when his yard is going better.

sent chasing, had plenty to find on hurdling form and was never dangerous after jumping right, handicaps probably in mind.

A thrilling match of cat and mouse between the 2 big players, the front-running winner's experience counting for plenty in turning over a rival who'll almost certainly end the season rated higher.

MAIRE BANRIGH took her impressive start over fences to a different level, taking a notable scalp under the sort of ride that brings out the best in her, nothing like her staying relatives and using that speed/enthusiasm to upset the odds-on favourite; she made all, jumped superbly and was always doing enough having quickened on the home turn, extending her winning spree to 4; Aintree would be tailor-made for her in the spring, but there's such as the Kingmaker back here to consider before then.
