resumed winning in opportunistic fashion from a mark he'd failed to defy 5 times previously, flattered by the margin of victory if not the win itself given that the runner-up finished weakly after being much closer 2 out; mid-division, travelled well, in touch eleventh, led 5 out, kicked on before 2 out, kept going well; likely to find life tougher next time.

shaped as if as good as ever/fairly treated after 5 months off only to finish weakly, lack of stamina possibly to blame at a trip he's yet to prove he stays, though late mistakes were equally a problem, jumping an issue with him; held up, travelled well, good progress before 5 out, took second next, effort home turn, mistakes last 2, weakened.

shaped as if retaining all ability after 7 months off, going without usual headgear; pressed leader, led seventh, not fluent twelfth, headed 5 out, faded after 3 out; should be sharper for the run and isn't out of things from this mark.

back in headgear, ran better than on stable debut but needs to do way more before he's of interest from mark in the 130s; mid-division, shaken up twelfth, left behind 3 out.

without the headgear this time, ran to only a fair level after 5 months off, stones short of what's needed from his current mark, itself based on some very shaky small-field novice form; disputed lead, off the bridle long way out, chased leader from seventh, dropped away before 5 out, all the while typically looking less than keen.

failed by a long chalk to build on promise of last run, plenty more bad runs than good ones on his recent record; mid-division, lost place tenth, never going well from next, dropped away thirteenth.

Non Runners: TRAFALGAR (FR). Fences: 18.

Winning Owner: G. Pascoe & S. Brewer

Time: 6m 4.2s

This didn't end up so competitive as one might expect for the grade, with some needing the run and others just not in much form, the winner unlikely to have improved as much as the margin of victory might suggest in seeing off the weak-finishing second from 2 out.

WIESENTRAUM (GER) resumed winning in opportunistic fashion from a mark he'd failed to defy 5 times previously, flattered by the margin of victory if not the win itself given that the runner-up finished weakly after being much closer 2 out; mid-division, travelled well, in touch eleventh, led 5 out, kicked on before 2 out, kept going well; likely to find life tougher next time.

FIRM ORDER (IRE) shaped as if retaining all ability after 7 months off, going without usual headgear; pressed leader, led seventh, not fluent twelfth, headed 5 out, faded after 3 out; should be sharper for the run and isn't out of things from this mark.

LAMBRO (IRE) back in headgear, ran better than on stable debut but needs to do way more before he's of interest from mark in the 130s; mid-division, shaken up twelfth, left behind 3 out.

BIT OF A JIG (IRE) without the headgear this time, ran to only a fair level after 5 months off, stones short of what's needed from his current mark, itself based on some very shaky small-field novice form; disputed lead, off the bridle long way out, chased leader from seventh, dropped away before 5 out, all the while typically looking less than keen.
