A useful contest that unfolded only in the latter stages, with several of those beaten worth noting, most notably the runner-up, who didn’t enjoy the same breaks as the winner and front-running third yet finished strongest.

DARGIANNINI (IRE) resumed winning ways after 9 months off, showing greater resolution than has has on some occasions to fend off the placed pair and register a fourth success under this jockey (and a second over C&D); mid-field, travelled well, untidy 3 out, good progress before next, jumped on last, tackled run-in, battled well.

INTO THE PARK (IRE) shaped well after 8 months off and may well have won with the same trouble-free passage as the winner; held up, not always fluent, headway approaching 3 out, short of room before 2 out, forced to switch between last 2, stayed on, conceded first run; he's struggled for consistency of late, but is clearly one to be interested in on the back of this, still giving the impression there’s potential in him.

LOOKAWAY (IRE) who'd had a breathing operation, had the run of the race and ran as well as he ever has returned to hurdling after 11 months off; dictated, ridden before 2 out, headed approaching last, rallied run-in; a likeable and reliable type, he'll most probably continue to give a good account, whether kept over hurdles or returned to chasing (still unexposed after just 2 outings and yet to try handicaps).

DISCO DAVIS (FR) shaped encouragingly after 7 months off and is one to note, eligible for lesser handicaps than this; held up, travelled well, took closer order third, chased leaders 3 out, short of room between last 2, not fluent last, short of room again run-in, kept on.

MASKED DANCE (FR) ran creditably upped in class after 5 months off; in touch, took closer order from third, second 3 out, led briefly approaching last, no extra run-in.

I SPY A DIVA shaped as if retaining all her ability despite looking a tad rusty after another 6 months off; raced off the pace, not fluent fifth, lost momentum when blundered 3 out, plugged on again latter stages; will benefit from return to further than 2½m.

BRAVE KNIGHT ran to just a similar level as last time contesting a stronger race than necessary, though he clearly needs to brush up his jumping if he’s to make more of an impact in handicap company; chased leaders, took strong hold, clouted sixth, not fluent 3 out, soon beaten.

MINELLA RESCUE (IRE) back over hurdles, probably remains in form, both the drop in trip and the way the race developed against him on this occasion; prominent, ridden 3 out, soon beaten.

NO ORDINARY JOE (IRE) was given a noticeably considerate ride on his first outing since leaving Nicky Henderson after 7 months off, the performance catching the eye and prompting an inquiry into his running and riding, though no further action was ultimately taken; raced wide, held up, outpaced briefly approaching 3 out, no threat after but not given at all a hard time.

GLENGOULY (FR) who'd had a breathing operation, didn't go with a great deal of encouragement back over hurdles after 3 months off; chased leaders, took strong hold, not fluent 4 out and 3 out, lost place before next.
