a smart novice chaser last season (won a Grade 3 at this track), made a winning return to action back over hurdles after 6 months off, likely to have done so even if the runner-up hadn't bungled the last; made running, jumped better than runner-up, shaken up approaching 2 out, left clear last, kept up to work; will presumably return to chasing soon and is still unexposed as a stayer in that sphere.

was below form back over hurdles, a fall over fences last time possibly having left a mark, his jumping here a bit on the sketchy side; close up, slow first, blundered sixth (same hurdle on next circuit), driven entering straight, no extra between last 2.

the least exposed in the field, might have needed the run after 7 months off but also hinted at temperament; mid-division, shaped to run out early final circuit, no threat from 3 out; he should get a handicap mark after this.

A useful event, the main protaganists better known for their exploits over fences, and it was the one with the best form in that sphere who made all to bring up his fourth win around here.

FRENCH DYNAMITE (FR) a smart novice chaser last season (won a Grade 3 at this track), made a winning return to action back over hurdles after 6 months off, likely to have done so even if the runner-up hadn't bungled the last; made running, jumped better than runner-up, shaken up approaching 2 out, left clear last, kept up to work; will presumably return to chasing soon and is still unexposed as a stayer in that sphere.

CAPE GENTLEMAN (IRE) was below form back over hurdles, a fall over fences last time possibly having left a mark, his jumping here a bit on the sketchy side; close up, slow first, blundered sixth (same hurdle on next circuit), driven entering straight, no extra between last 2.

JAYCEAN (IRE) the least exposed in the field, might have needed the run after 7 months off but also hinted at temperament; mid-division, shaped to run out early final circuit, no threat from 3 out; he should get a handicap mark after this.

HAPPY JACKY (IRE) arrived here in good heart but didn't get very far, unseating at the second.
