the only one of the quartet with the benefit of a recent run, didn't need to be at his best to resume winning ways but is almost certainly still capable of top-class form, never troubled despite the drop in trip and drawing clear for just hand riding; chased leaders, jumped soundly, travelled well, went on between last 2, had bit in hand; is yet to win a graded chase outside of novice company but will presumably attempt to rectify that in the Savills Chase at Leopardstown next month.

strong in the betting, was ridden with other days in mind on return from 8 months off, his tendency to make the odd mistake once more not helping his cause; close up, typically took strong hold, clouted 4 out, every chance 2 out, held when mistake last, not given at all a hard time; it may well be that he is at his best when allowed to make the running.

was well below his best after 8 months off, not the first time he has failed to meet expectations after a break; made running, jumped well in main, headed 2 out, no extra; likely to be much closer to form next time.

unproven at the trip, isn't the easiest to assess at present but was out of his depth here anyway; in rear, made mistakes, beaten when clouted 2 out.

An intriguing listed contest featuring a trio who are regulars in Grade 1 chases, but it wasn't quite the race it promised to be, Presenting Percy much too strong for Kemboy and Monalee on the day; the pace was just fair.

PRESENTING PERCY the only one of the quartet with the benefit of a recent run, didn't need to be at his best to resume winning ways but is almost certainly still capable of top-class form, never troubled despite the drop in trip and drawing clear for just hand riding; chased leaders, jumped soundly, travelled well, went on between last 2, had bit in hand; is yet to win a graded chase outside of novice company but will presumably attempt to rectify that in the Savills Chase at Leopardstown next month.
