won on last season's reappearance and bounced back to his best after 8 months off to make a similar start to this campaign; never far away, ridden 2f out, edged ahead soon after, tackled final 1f, drifted right, just held on; best at 6f and should remain competitive in similar events, unlikely to go up much for this.

just out of the handicap, bounced back to form second time round for his new yard and should have finished even closer, stronger handling likely to have helped; mid-field, shuffled back before halfway, keeping on when denied a run 1f out, ran on late; one to be interested in next time, especially as he's eligible for lower-graded races than this.

A fairly useful sprint handicap that looked wide open beforehand and there was less than ½-length covering the first 5 home at the end of a strongly-run race, those finishing between third and fifth all suffering some interference.

BLACK ISLE BOY (IRE) won on last season's reappearance and bounced back to his best after 8 months off to make a similar start to this campaign; never far away, ridden 2f out, edged ahead soon after, tackled final 1f, drifted right, just held on; best at 6f and should remain competitive in similar events, unlikely to go up much for this.

MY NAME IS RIO (IRE) stepped up on his recent comeback run; raced near side, held up, ridden over 2f out, good progress approaching final 1f, kept on.

PENNSYLVANIA DUTCH was perhaps unlucky not to win, though was largely responsible for his own downfall, again on the back foot from an early stage; awkward leaving stalls, in rear, took strong hold, keeping on when forced to switch right inside final 1f, finished fast, just failed.

VENTURA SECRET (IRE) just out of the handicap, bounced back to form second time round for his new yard and should have finished even closer, stronger handling likely to have helped; mid-field, shuffled back before halfway, keeping on when denied a run 1f out, ran on late; one to be interested in next time, especially as he's eligible for lower-graded races than this.

DARK DEFENDER probably remains in form though is no more than averagely treated at present; raced near side, chased leaders, driven over 2f out, every chance entering final 1f, edged left, held when short of room close home.

MUSCIKA who'd had a breathing operation, was without the cheekpieces worn when last seen 8 months earlier and shaped as if better for the run; prominent, ridden 2f out, faded last ½f.

SOMEWHERE SECRET had been gelded since last seen 6 months earlier, also in a change of headgear, and took a step back in the right direction; raced off the pace, ridden over 2f out, short of room approaching final 1f, some late headway.

SHEPHERD'S PURSE shaped as if better for the run back on turf after a further 4 months off; raced near side close up, led briefly around halfway, pushed along soon after, weakened 1f out.

HEE HAW (IRE) ran one of his lesser races; mid-field, pushed along over 2f out, some headway approaching final 1f, effort flattened out.

FUMBO JUMBO (IRE) continues to fall in the weights without showing any sign of taking advantage; raced far side close up, pushed along soon after halfway, dropped away over 1f out.

BOSSIPOP back in blinkers, fared no better than last time; close up, ridden when shuffled back approaching final 1f, soon beaten.

BOBBY JOE LEG making turf debut, failed to repeat last effort; held up, outpaced around halfway, never involved.
