consistent while standing still in ratings terms all year, yet jumped up here, and no fluke about it considering he virtually did it all on his own steam, stall 1 putting him right on the far flank, leading overall from over 1f out, keeping going very well considering the running he'd done, underlining his relish of soft ground.

flatters to deceive a lot of the time, but this had style and substance, his best performance of the year, the purposeful way he went through the race adding weight to the belief a corner might have been turned, the winner not for catching, but beating all the rest.

still has it all ahead of him, low mileage, and he's barely put a foot wrong for Ruth Carr this year, just getting going too late here, from off the pace, right up against the stand rail while the first 2 were mid-track.

bubbling under, lighter raced than last year (won this event) and doing well to finish as close as he did this time around, racing well away from the main action like the third, picking a passage that took more negotiating, threading his way through, ending up more to the middle, staying on all the time.

They spread across the track, the draws of the first 2 contrasting with the next 2 home, but more pertinent was that the third/fourth came from off the pace, Ocean Sheridan gone by then, despite being on the far flank throughout, and generally the race wasn't so competitive as the field size might suggest, plenty below form for one reason or another.

OCEAN SHERIDAN (IRE) consistent while standing still in ratings terms all year, yet jumped up here, and no fluke about it considering he virtually did it all on his own steam, stall 1 putting him right on the far flank, leading overall from over 1f out, keeping going very well considering the running he'd done, underlining his relish of soft ground.
