after just 7 days off, turned in best effort of season, very much suited by how this developed; dwelt, raced well off the pace, travelled smoothly, steady headway from 2f out, shaken up 1f out, stayed on to lead final 100 yds, just held on; should remain competitive, though circumstances unlikely to be so favourable next time.

A competitive northern handicap made up of the usual suspects, the race heavy on pace horses and it was duly run at an overly strong gallop, playing into the hands of those ridden with more restraint, the fifth faring best of those ridden prominently in a bunched finish.

GO GO GREEN (IRE) after just 7 days off, turned in best effort of season, very much suited by how this developed; dwelt, raced well off the pace, travelled smoothly, steady headway from 2f out, shaken up 1f out, stayed on to lead final 100 yds, just held on; should remain competitive, though circumstances unlikely to be so favourable next time.

HAAJES has slipped in the weights and ran well, firmly in the veteran stage now but capable off this mark when on a going day; mid-field, short of room 2f out, headway approaching final 1f, kept on well, just failed; one to bear in mind.

HEAD SPACE (IRE) who attracted support, remains in good form and still looks on a fair mark, successful off 5 lb higher last term; held up, pushed along over 2f out, headway approaching final 1f, every chance last ½f, no extra late on; will remain of interest.

HAZELRIGG (IRE) after just 5 days off, was backed at long odds and ran one of better races without the headgear this time, no doubt helped by the way this developed with horses coming back to him; mid-field, carried head high, effort 1f out, ran on; not sure to be in same form or mood next time.

TYFOS continues in good heart, faring best of those ridden up with the strong pace here; prominent, led over 1f out, headed inside last ½f, no extra; will continue to give good account.

CAPTAIN ROYALE (IRE) ran respectably but looks no more than averagely treated; mid-field, ridden 2f out, kept on without seriously threatening.

OLDJOESAID wasn't disgraced back on softer ground, though was again found wanting for speed in a race run at a strong gallop; raced off the pace, off the bridle before most, still plenty to do 1f out, ran on late, never nearer.

SIR GEOFFREY (IRE) again ran below form after just 6 days off though this didn't really suit his style, faced with plenty of competition for the lead; prominent, ridden 2f out, weakened, raced closer to pace than ideal.

TAX FREE (IRE) fared little better; mid-division, struggling 1f out, made little impression; he'll reportedly be retired after this.

GOWANHARRY (IRE) well backed but is best not judged on this run, doing too much too soon ridden up with the strong pace; disputed lead, travelled well, shaken up 2f out, weakened.

BRONZE BEAU again wasn't seen to best effect, up with the pace throughout; chased leaders, shaken up 2f out, folded.

CAPTAIN DUNNE (IRE) best not judged on this run, doing too much too soon; disputed lead, went with zest, headed over 1f out, folded.

MAYFIELD GIRL (IRE) was well held after just 4 days off; dwelt, in rear, never travelling well, always behind.
