was fortunate to follow up from last time but there's no doubt that he's improved for a switch to front-running as he's settling a lot better than he was; dictated, went with enthusiasm, ridden when headed between last 2, around a length down when left clear last, kept up to work; he also had the run of the race again, so circumstances are far from certain to be so favourable next time.

ran creditably after 5 weeks off and would probably have been ideally suited by a stronger pace; mid-division, not always fluent, outpaced after 3 out, keeping on when left second last, no impression on winner.

was rather disappointing considering he was well positioned and had similar conditions to when winning here last time, the slightly longer trip not the problem; prominent, shaken up soon after 3 out, held when slightly hampered and left in a place last.

wasn't suited by how the race developed but also just struggled with a further rise in the weights, not well handicapped now; held up, effort after 3 out, one paced, never dangerous.

was easy to back and ran below form on handicap debut after a couple of months off; chased leader, pushed along soon after 3 out, weakening when untidy next, no extra; he should be suited by further than 2m.

was in the process of showing improved form when departing and probably would have won; tracked pace, travelled strongly, led between last 2 and was around a length up but idling when fell at the final flight; he's generally progressed so far over hurdles and is clearly well suited by good or firmer ground.

This was a bit of a muddling race, run at a modest gallop, and the winner had just been headed by Forecast when that one didn't pick his feet up at the final flight and crashed out; it doesn't appeal as strong or solid form.

SPACE ODDITY (FR) was fortunate to follow up from last time but there's no doubt that he's improved for a switch to front-running as he's settling a lot better than he was; dictated, went with enthusiasm, ridden when headed between last 2, around a length down when left clear last, kept up to work; he also had the run of the race again, so circumstances are far from certain to be so favourable next time.

MIDNIGHT TOUR ran creditably after 5 weeks off and would probably have been ideally suited by a stronger pace; mid-division, not always fluent, outpaced after 3 out, keeping on when left second last, no impression on winner.

VOLPONE JELOIS (FR) was rather disappointing considering he was well positioned and had similar conditions to when winning here last time, the slightly longer trip not the problem; prominent, shaken up soon after 3 out, held when slightly hampered and left in a place last.

WINNING SPARK (USA) wasn't suited by how the race developed but also just struggled with a further rise in the weights, not well handicapped now; held up, effort after 3 out, one paced, never dangerous.

RESOLUTION BAY was easy to back and ran below form on handicap debut after a couple of months off; chased leader, pushed along soon after 3 out, weakening when untidy next, no extra; he should be suited by further than 2m.

SLEEP EASY was below form in first-time cheekpieces, though a stronger pace would have suited, and he looks too high in the weights anyway; held up, pushed along after 3 out, one paced, never a threat.

KUBLAI (FR) fared no better in first-time tongue strap, continues out of sorts; not jump well, always behind.

BINGO D'OLIVATE (FR) again ran below form; mid-division, raced freely, weakened after 3 out, pulled up.

FORECAST was in the process of showing improved form when departing and probably would have won; tracked pace, travelled strongly, led between last 2 and was around a length up but idling when fell at the final flight; he's generally progressed so far over hurdles and is clearly well suited by good or firmer ground.

GIVE HIM TIME has been handed a stiff-looking mark but just ran no sort of race regardless of that; held up, went with little fluency, behind 4 out, pulled up.
