did really well on fibresand here last winter but gave further confirmation he's just as effective on this surface as he resumed winning ways back in a weaker race than the one he contested here earlier in the month; mid-division, progress early in straight, led over 1f out, hung left, driven out.

back on all-weather for the first time since he was a 3-y-o, shaped as if retaining most, if not all of his ability after 5 months off, not seen to best effect given how this developed; mid-field, raced freely, pushed along over 2f out, carried left approaching final 1f, forced to switch, ran on; he's not an easy ride, plenty keen enough despite wearing a hood, but the programme of valuable big-field 7f handicaps on turf will suit much better and he has the ability/mark to pop up in one at some stage.

previously unproven on all-weather, seemed to excel himself after 4 months off, but was likely flattered by his proximity given he had the run of the race; led, pushed along home turn, headed over 1f out, edged left, no extra close home; he at least won't have done his mark any harm, the assessor prevented from raising him.

back down in trip, again ran below form but wasn't seen to best effect; held up, switched inside early in straight, not quicken, left poorly placed.

went the wrong way last year for Kevin Ryan (sold only 13,000 gns) but was given a considerate return back from 7 months off; patiently ridden, shaken up early in straight, switched 2f out, not quicken, not knocked about; his next run should reveal more as to where his current level is at.

had plenty on at the weights in this company, certainly more than his odds suggested and he ran as well as could be expected; chased leader, pushed along over 3f out, left behind under 2f out.

One of the outsiders set just a modest gallop, so this is bare form to treat with caution, Global Esteem ultimately flattered by his proximity given the run of the race and neither of the joint-favourites seen to best effect from the second half of the field.

STONE SOLDIER did really well on fibresand here last winter but gave further confirmation he's just as effective on this surface as he resumed winning ways back in a weaker race than the one he contested here earlier in the month; mid-division, progress early in straight, led over 1f out, hung left, driven out.
