had peaked with a win on his final turf start of 2019 and stepped it up another notch back on all-weather returning from 4 months off, initially looking all at sea on fibresand debut but responding well to pressure and ending up comfortably conceding over a stone to all his rivals, ready for another crack at a higher level on the evidence of his last 2 starts; in rear, soon under pressure, switched inside 2f out, found plenty to lead final 1f, stayed on strongly.

shaped as if still right at the top of his game switched to fibresand on the back of an 8 lb rise, still looking well treated and having no problem with the surface, rather bumping into a smart sort here; dwelt, held up, travelled strongly, good headway out wide 3f out, challenged over 1f out, edged left, kept on; will remain of interest.

A fascinating handicap with the winner giving lumps of weight away on return from a few months off and decisively beating one that is on the up, the pair of them emerging with plenty of credit.

GULLIVER had peaked with a win on his final turf start of 2019 and stepped it up another notch back on all-weather returning from 4 months off, initially looking all at sea on fibresand debut but responding well to pressure and ending up comfortably conceding over a stone to all his rivals, ready for another crack at a higher level on the evidence of his last 2 starts; in rear, soon under pressure, switched inside 2f out, found plenty to lead final 1f, stayed on strongly.
