was sent off favourite in light of his easiest assignment for some time, but produced a laboured effort in first-time blinkers, seeming to resent being taken on for the lead through the early stages and looking less than enthusiastic thereafter, the fact he still held every chance turning for home owing plenty to his rider's perseverence; disputed lead until second, went on before third, reminders after fourth, ridden from early final circuit, headed between last 2, no extra; best treated with caution from now on.

With the favourite seemingly let down by his attitude and the other 3 failing to run to their optimum, this isn't the easiest race to assess, though Mia's Anthem clearly showed some improvement to come out on top in the manner that he did.

MIA'S ANTHEM (IRE) improved further to follow up his Hexham success from a 12 lb higher mark in authoritative fashion, seen to good effect under a patient ride; held up, travelled smoothly, good progress after 4 out, close up when not fluent 2 out, led on bridle between last 2, asserted run-in, won easily; future prospects likely to depend on handicapper.
