built on hurdling debut promise, running to a useful level in going one better; held up, took keen hold, loomed up after 3 out, shaken up approaching 2 out, ran green, disputed lead soon after, kept on well, asserted final 100 yds; he's a half-brother to Enrilo, a previous winner of this race, like him more a chaser than hurdler on looks and demeanour, fences surely on the cards next season, though there's plenty more to come from him in this sphere first; he'll stay beyond 2½m.

made a race of it with the favourite and progressed again, giving best only late on, another likely to make a better chaser than hurdler longer term; close up, hampered first, shaken up straight, disputed lead 2 out, not quicken final 100 yds.

lost his unbeaten record, essentially not good enough up in grade, probably going to prove better over further, though; in touch, not fluent third, lost place, shaken up 3 out, plugged on run-in.

improved on the form of his hurdling debut win upped in grade, like most of this field more a chaser in the long term; led, not always fluent (jumped left first), headed second, ridden straight, outpaced 2 out.

up in grade, failed to progress from debut, though a mistake when being asked for his effort didn't help; held up, shaken up straight, ridden when mistake 2 out, left behind soon after; he looks the part and may yet do better.

seemed to be found out in better company, though like most of these is more a chaser on looks, still with a bit of longer-term potential; handy, not settle fully, led second, not fluent third, 3 out, headed 2 out, weakened.

Plenty of potential on show, 4 of the 6 last-time-out winners, though it was the pair that weren't that fought out the finish, the last few runnings of this Grade 2 just average at best, though the winner, from a stable that looks to have a fair bit of depth in the division, is clearly promising after just 2 starts.

HENRI THE SECOND (FR) built on hurdling debut promise, running to a useful level in going one better; held up, took keen hold, loomed up after 3 out, shaken up approaching 2 out, ran green, disputed lead soon after, kept on well, asserted final 100 yds; he's a half-brother to Enrilo, a previous winner of this race, like him more a chaser than hurdler on looks and demeanour, fences surely on the cards next season, though there's plenty more to come from him in this sphere first; he'll stay beyond 2½m.

HENRY'S FRIEND (IRE) made a race of it with the favourite and progressed again, giving best only late on, another likely to make a better chaser than hurdler longer term; close up, hampered first, shaken up straight, disputed lead 2 out, not quicken final 100 yds.

MAXIMILIAN (GER) lost his unbeaten record, essentially not good enough up in grade, probably going to prove better over further, though; in touch, not fluent third, lost place, shaken up 3 out, plugged on run-in.

PARK THIS ONE (IRE) improved on the form of his hurdling debut win upped in grade, like most of this field more a chaser in the long term; led, not always fluent (jumped left first), headed second, ridden straight, outpaced 2 out.

MAN AT WORK (IRE) up in grade, failed to progress from debut, though a mistake when being asked for his effort didn't help; held up, shaken up straight, ridden when mistake 2 out, left behind soon after; he looks the part and may yet do better.

I'D LIKE TO KNOW (IRE) seemed to be found out in better company, though like most of these is more a chaser on looks, still with a bit of longer-term potential; handy, not settle fully, led second, not fluent third, 3 out, headed 2 out, weakened.
