A good renewal of this listed event, the winner producing one of the best performances in the race since it was moved to Sandown in 2007, himself typical of the later-maturing type that usually wins this, the runner-up a rather different type, successful in pattern company at 2 yrs, turning up here after a set-back last autumn, his effort very promising in the circumstances too, the pair pulling well clear.

MY PROSPERO (IRE) had looked a good prospect in winning his maiden and confirmed it with a smart effort on just his third start, plenty more to come as he goes up further in grade, entered in the St James's Palace, not sure to go there, but his entry is an indication though of the regard in which he's held for a yard that doesn't waste pattern entries; never far away, shaken up 3f out, led 1f out, kept on, ridden out; he's an exciting prospect, destined for even better things.

REACH FOR THE MOON who'd had his 2-y-o campaign curtailed after a set-back on the gallops in the autumn and had reportedly been slow to come to hand this year, taken out of the Derby due to lack of time to prepare him for the race, so that he ran as well as he did after 8 months off is highly encouraging, a good race or 2 to be won with him this summer, entered in the Edward VII at Royal Ascot, though the Hampton Court may be a better option; led, kicked on 3f out, headed 1f out, kept on.

AKHU NAJLA with a very similar profile to the winner and also entered in the St James's Palace, was seemingly just found out in better company; tracked pace, pressed leader entering straight, shaken up 3f out, not quicken, weakened over 1f out; he's a grand looker in good hands, and he may yet do better.

ONEFORTHEGUTTER placed in pattern company at 2 yrs, was below form after 8 months off, bred to stay at least this far (entered in the Edward VII); held up, left behind 3f out.

HARROW (IRE) was below form for the second start running, excuses not so easy to find this time, in all likelihood a useful 2-y-o that will be hard to place on turf this summer; held up, left behind after 3f out.

ENCOURAGEABLE (IRE) has been given a St James's Palace entry, but he had a lot to find at this level and was just found out in better company; held up, left behind 3f out.
