caught the eye back from a break last time and confirmed the promise of that effort in no uncertain terms, by some way a career-best performance, value for much more the winning distance, cutting through the pack with ease and immediately in command when Skelton pushed the button; patiently ridden, travelled powerfully, off pace still 3 out, headway approaching 2 out, upsides last, quickened clear, had plenty in hand; he qualifies for a big bonus if he follows up under a penalty in the Martin Pipe at Cheltenham on Friday and, if he gets a run, he'll clearly warrant the utmost respect for all that it's likely to be a much more competitive race than this ended up.

is as consistent and genuine as you'll find and ran a typically game race from a career-high mark; never far away, led 3 out, joined when untidy last, blown away by winner soon after but kept on.

ran respectably but handled conditions better than most (won a heavy ground race over C&D last year) and is essentially summed up by his handicap mark; chased leaders, close up still 2 out, one paced; the Betfair Hurdle form already looks exceptionally strong.

shaped much better than the distance beaten suggests just 7 days on from Newbury, conditions too demanding for him to see things out, whilst his jumping still needs to improve, too; held up, went with enthusiasm, headway after 3 out, mistakes last 2, no extra; he'll drop for this and will be worth considering if freshened up and getting the emphasis more on speed.

handled very testing ground on the Flat but probably isn't a strong enough stayer to handle it in this sphere, a free-going sort after all; led, raced freely, headed 3 out, weakened 2 out; a 16 lb rise for winning a weak race at Plumpton looks harsh on the face of it but, given his level of form on the Flat, he could still resume his progress.

By Imperial Cup standards this wasn't competitive at all, decimated by withdrawals with conditions deteriorating even before traffic problems meant the 2 intended runners from David Pipe's yard couldn't make it to the track either, left with a small field for a prestigious handicap, and plenty of them would've been better served by the less testing conditions on which they were declared 48 hours earlier.

LANGER DAN (IRE) caught the eye back from a break last time and confirmed the promise of that effort in no uncertain terms, by some way a career-best performance, value for much more the winning distance, cutting through the pack with ease and immediately in command when Skelton pushed the button; patiently ridden, travelled powerfully, off pace still 3 out, headway approaching 2 out, upsides last, quickened clear, had plenty in hand; he qualifies for a big bonus if he follows up under a penalty in the Martin Pipe at Cheltenham on Friday and, if he gets a run, he'll clearly warrant the utmost respect for all that it's likely to be a much more competitive race than this ended up.
