maintained her unbeaten record upped markedly in class, perhaps relishing the much softer going, or possibly just having learnt plenty; handy, took keen hold, effort approaching 2 out, led there, kept on well, ridden out; useful already and likely to progress further.

had already had a go at this level, but improved upon that effort, whether through learning from experience or appreciating a softer surface; close up, left in front third, headed 3 out, ridden entering straight, not quicken 2 out, kept on well from last; will stay beyond 21f; may do better still.

showed the benefit of his initial experience over hurdles, going better than most but lacking a turn of foot; waited with, travelled well, headway before fourth, led 3 out, headed next, one paced; remains with potential, though perhaps more as a chaser than a hurdler in time.

again shaped with plenty of encouragement, just looking to want experience for this task; held up, mistake sixth, good progress entering straight, every chance 2 out, beaten when mistake last; looks a useful prospect in the longer term, remaining open to improvement.

upped in trip, back over hurdles, had much more experience than his rivals, running to a useful level over fences most recently, but he disappointed on first outing since leaving Francois Nicolle after 9 months off, given a breathing operation since last seen, but leaving the impression a physical problem remains; held up, headway entering straight, shaken up 2 out, folded tamely.

disappointed up in grade, possibly needing to go the other way around, but overall leaving the impression he might have been amiss; led, jumped left at times, mistake third and headed, every chance still after 3 out, weakened quickly straight, pulled up last; the running of the third doesn't suggest there's much wrong with his form.

All 10 ran. Hurdles: 9. Race Distance Adjustment: +30 yds

Winning Owner: Mrs June Watts

Time: 5m 23.9s Closing Sectional: (6.05f): 95.60s (103.6%)

The largest field for this race this century, the majority promising after one or 2 runs over hurdles, though their form was well short of the standard usually required and, with none of the 3 market leaders figuring in the closing stages, it was almost certainly a substandard renewal; the race developed only after 3 out.

ALSA MIX (FR) maintained her unbeaten record upped markedly in class, perhaps relishing the much softer going, or possibly just having learnt plenty; handy, took keen hold, effort approaching 2 out, led there, kept on well, ridden out; useful already and likely to progress further.

DARLAC (FR) had already had a go at this level, but improved upon that effort, whether through learning from experience or appreciating a softer surface; close up, left in front third, headed 3 out, ridden entering straight, not quicken 2 out, kept on well from last; will stay beyond 21f; may do better still.

MERCY MERCY ME showed the benefit of his initial experience over hurdles, going better than most but lacking a turn of foot; waited with, travelled well, headway before fourth, led 3 out, headed next, one paced; remains with potential, though perhaps more as a chaser than a hurdler in time.

QUOI DE NEUF (FR) again shaped with plenty of encouragement, just looking to want experience for this task; held up, mistake sixth, good progress entering straight, every chance 2 out, beaten when mistake last; looks a useful prospect in the longer term, remaining open to improvement.

TRIO FOR RIO (IRE) back down in trip, ran about as well as could have been expected upped in grade, on softer ground than previously; waited with, off the bridle before most, effort 3 out, left behind straight.

MY WAY (FR) upped in trip, back over hurdles, had much more experience than his rivals, running to a useful level over fences most recently, but he disappointed on first outing since leaving Francois Nicolle after 9 months off, given a breathing operation since last seen, but leaving the impression a physical problem remains; held up, headway entering straight, shaken up 2 out, folded tamely.

ANOTHER GO (IRE) was out of his depth on his third start over hurdles; held up, took keen hold, labouring before sixth, pulled up straight.

AMATEUR (IRE) faced a stiff task in this grade; held up, jumped none too fluently, lost touch fifth, pulled up straight.

TRUCKIN AWAY (IRE) well backed, had an unfortunate second outing over hurdles; short of room and fell first.

DOWN THE HIGHWAY (IRE) disappointed up in grade, possibly needing to go the other way around, but overall leaving the impression he might have been amiss; led, jumped left at times, mistake third and headed, every chance still after 3 out, weakened quickly straight, pulled up last; the running of the third doesn't suggest there's much wrong with his form.
