confirmed previous form, though having to work harder than at Bangor, showing a good attitude to pull this out of the fire; tracked pace, took keen hold, outpaced approaching 2 out, rallied well last, led inside final 1f, stayed on; will continue to give good account, with the Challow Hurdle potentially the next step.

over 4f longer trip, matched rather than bettered previous form, in a race that should have played to his strengths much more than last time, still a work in progress to some extent as a hurdler; chased leader, jumped none too fluently, travelled well, pressed leader before 2 out, untidy last, kept on.

over 4f longer trip, coped well with the higher grade and ran his best race, though it wasn't a flawless performance by any means, seemingly not going in the back straight before coming back on the bridle, then not finishing the race nearly so well as the first 2, the whole raising questions as to whether he's entirely straightforward; in touch, pushed along before sixth, headway early in straight, led when mistake 2 out, ridden after, headed inside final 1f, no extra.

acquited himself perfectly well, but was essentially found out in better company, lacking a turn of foot; led, jumped well, ridden straight, headed before 2 out, one paced; remains with potential, particularly up in trip and when switched to fences.

was smart in bumpers but it was asking a lot of him to take on this company on hurdling debut after 7 months off and he just didn't know enough; held up, novicey mistakes, left behind fifth; has the ability to do better.

All 7 ran. Hurdles: 9.

Winning Owner: Mr Simon Munir & Mr Isaac Souede

Time: 4m 59.9s Closing Sectional: (5.90f): 89.20s (100.2%)

A keenly contested renewal of this Grade 2 event, the winner's performance up to the recent standard for the race, though the way in which the likely outcome changed so dramatically late on raises some questions about the form.

MESSIRE DES OBEAUX (FR) confirmed previous form, though having to work harder than at Bangor, showing a good attitude to pull this out of the fire; tracked pace, took keen hold, outpaced approaching 2 out, rallied well last, led inside final 1f, stayed on; will continue to give good account, with the Challow Hurdle potentially the next step.

BALLYANDY over 4f longer trip, matched rather than bettered previous form, in a race that should have played to his strengths much more than last time, still a work in progress to some extent as a hurdler; chased leader, jumped none too fluently, travelled well, pressed leader before 2 out, untidy last, kept on.

CULTIVATOR over 4f longer trip, coped well with the higher grade and ran his best race, though it wasn't a flawless performance by any means, seemingly not going in the back straight before coming back on the bridle, then not finishing the race nearly so well as the first 2, the whole raising questions as to whether he's entirely straightforward; in touch, pushed along before sixth, headway early in straight, led when mistake 2 out, ridden after, headed inside final 1f, no extra.

COEUR BLIMEY (IRE) was smart in bumpers but it was asking a lot of him to take on this company on hurdling debut after 7 months off and he just didn't know enough; held up, novicey mistakes, left behind fifth; has the ability to do better.

KABANGA BAY was even more out of his depth than usual; in rear, lost touch after third.

APASIONADO (GER) was well held over 4f longer trip, lack of stamina compounding just not being quite good enough; in touch, raced freely, ridden 3 out, weakened straight.
