gained compensation for his reverse last time, seen to maximum advantage the way things unfolded, though he didn't do anything wrong once in front either; handy, went with enthusiasm, shaken up over 2f out, led over 1f out, ran on.

ran well again, done for foot as much as anything, a stronger pace likely to have helped his cause, less exposed than most of these and capable of winning a good race off this mark; handy, took keen hold, shaken up 3f out, not quicken, kept on well final 100 yds.

A really competitive renewal of Redcar's feature handicap of the year, despite a lack of runners towards the upper end of the ratings limit, though the lack of pace and the advantage of being near the rail made for a really messy race, any number finding trouble in running in the last 2f, the winner seen to maximum advantage under a good ride, the form likely to prove muddling.

GOOD BIRTHDAY (IRE) gained compensation for his reverse last time, seen to maximum advantage the way things unfolded, though he didn't do anything wrong once in front either; handy, went with enthusiasm, shaken up over 2f out, led over 1f out, ran on.

MAKRAM (IRE) ran well again, done for foot as much as anything, a stronger pace likely to have helped his cause, less exposed than most of these and capable of winning a good race off this mark; handy, took keen hold, shaken up 3f out, not quicken, kept on well final 100 yds.

HIGHWAYGREY ran creditably, better than the result too, coming from a hopeless position to make the frame; slowly into stride, in rear, still plenty to do over 2f out, not clear run soon after, switched, kept on well final 1f, left with too much to do.
