built on the promise of his chasing debut to make it 2 wins from as many starts over fences, doing well to sustain his run from an unpromising position; held up, slow eighth, crept closer home turn, still plenty to do when shaken up soon after 2 out, quickened to lead run-in, well on top finish; exciting prospect.

showed improved form tackling graded company for the first time over fences, beaten only by a very smart prospect; in touch, outpaced briefly before 2 out, rallied approaching last, one paced final 100 yds; this qualifies him for a handicap at the Cheltenham Festival and he'd be a very interesting runner in the Ultima given he has the potential to raise him game further when tackling 3m+.

failed to improve on his chasing debut/comeback success as he was turned over at a short price on his first start in graded company in this sphere, excuses hard to find; led, joined sixth, not fluent tenth, pushed along after 3 out, went on again next, clear between last 2, closed down approaching last, headed run-in.

wasn't good enough up in grade; chased leader, awkward second, upsides sixth, pushed along entering straight, weakened last.

proved easy to back and clearly didn't give his running up in trip/grade; waited with, took closer order eighth, lost place when pecked 3 out, ridden soon after, beaten before next; should stay at least 2½m.

A race with a habit of producing future Cheltenham Festival winners, Lecky Watson taking this in 2025 en route to Brown Advisory glory, and this year’s victor showed his class in the way he overcame an unpromising position in a modestly-run affair.

KAPPA JY PYKE (FR) built on the promise of his chasing debut to make it 2 wins from as many starts over fences, doing well to sustain his run from an unpromising position; held up, slow eighth, crept closer home turn, still plenty to do when shaken up soon after 2 out, quickened to lead run-in, well on top finish; exciting prospect.

PURE STEEL (IRE) proved easy to back and clearly didn't give his running up in trip/grade; waited with, took closer order eighth, lost place when pecked 3 out, ridden soon after, beaten before next; should stay at least 2½m.
