arrived with her yard not firing as they had been the previous month but still cemented her status as the best hurdler around - allowance or no allowance - with another dominant display against most of the best the division has to offer, still flourishing at a stage when the likes of Epatante and Goshen have seen standards slip, an unblemished 12-12 record worth celebrating on its own even before considering three-quarters of her races have come at the top level; she had to sit and suffer around the outside, but she made a move from mid-field reminiscent of the one that had carried her clear at Cheltenham to jump to the front 2 out and sustained her burst of pace to open a 5/6-length advantage early in the straight, wobbling and slowing as she approached the last and giving Sharjah a sniff but regaining her momentum soon after landing.
in touch forced wide, headway to lead on landing 2 out, went clear quickly, reduced advantage when steadied into last, lost momentum, ridden out

had Honeysuckle's lapse at the last to thank for closing the gap from the British version but still produced another decidedly high-class performance, proof if any were required that only the imperious winner sits above him in the current 2m standings; his performance was a familiar one, passing the bulk of the field with comfort approaching the straight as he swept around the outside, keeping at it to come clear of the rest but flattered to get so close following the winner's late wobble, another defeat in the region of 6 lengths likely to have been a more accurate representation.
held up, smooth headway wide after 2 out, chased leader straight, closed down leader last, no further impression

hasn't only lost her winning habit in recent months but seemingly her edge as well, clearly not quite the same force as when seeing off Sharjah in the 2020 Champion Hurdle, the pace and spark waning as another mare has gone on to dominate the 2m scene in her place; settled in touch, shaken up home turn, kept on gradually, no threat.

faced a stiffer task compared to at Aintree but possibly found the race coming too soon in any case, failing to go on the bridle for as long as usual; in touch, outpaced after 2 out, no threat after.

overdid the positive tactics with Jason The Militant in opposition but, taken in the round, still has plenty to prove as regards the top 2m races these days, with success in a flawed Kingwell surrounded by flops since a Triumph exit that has seemingly left a mark; pressed leader from second, edged ahead soon after fourth, headed when not fluent next, driven after 2 out, no response entering straight.

A different month and a different country but a similar line-up to the British version and an almost identical outcome, as the first 3 from Cheltenham finished in the same order to cement the hierarchy at the top of the 2m hurdling tree, Honeysuckle barely any less dominant for all a loss of focus at the last enabled Sharjah to narrow the gap from then; the gallop was unrelenting, Goshen outlasting Jason The Militant in that private battle but only with both cooked by then.

HONEYSUCKLE arrived with her yard not firing as they had been the previous month but still cemented her status as the best hurdler around - allowance or no allowance - with another dominant display against most of the best the division has to offer, still flourishing at a stage when the likes of Epatante and Goshen have seen standards slip, an unblemished 12-12 record worth celebrating on its own even before considering three-quarters of her races have come at the top level; she had to sit and suffer around the outside, but she made a move from mid-field reminiscent of the one that had carried her clear at Cheltenham to jump to the front 2 out and sustained her burst of pace to open a 5/6-length advantage early in the straight, wobbling and slowing as she approached the last and giving Sharjah a sniff but regaining her momentum soon after landing.
