returned to form from out of the blue to land this race for the second time in 3 years; close up, pushed along before 2 out, edged ahead approaching last, driven clear; now a 4-time Grade 1 winner, connections will reportedly wait until after the summer to decide whether he will race on or not.

in first-time tongue strap, ran respectably but may have finished outside the frame had a couple of his rivals managed to safely negotiate the last, and is unlikely to get many better chances of winning a Grade 1 in Britain or Ireland; patiently ridden, headway 3 out, driven entering straight, left second last, lost place near finish.

back at this level for the first time since joining his current yard, ran creditably but looked set to do even better for much of the way; chased leaders, travelled well, shaken up after 2 out, found less than looked likely.

wasted no time getting back to form and shaped even better than the result on his first try at 3m; held up, headway entering straight, every chance when bad mistake last, not recover; still only 6, he looks worth keeping over hurdles for the time being.

A race that failed to live up to its billing, the absence of the likes of Paisley Park, Supasundae, Apple's Jade and even Faugheen meaning this had a distinctly "second division" look to it, the outcome still in the balance when Vision des Flos almost came down and Not Many Left did at the last.
