had similar positive tactics employed to Limerick last month and justified good support, seeing the job through this time, clearly suited by the drop back to 2m; went with enthusiasm and soon well clear, shaken up before 2 out, in control when jumped left last, driven out; he'll likely be seen in a Grade 1 next time, the Supreme the obvious target if heading to the Cheltenham Festival having finished sixth in the Champion Bumper last season, but similar tactics won't be easy to pull off there, and he's got more improvement to find, too.

fully merited his place in this company having won a valuable, big-field Leopardstown handicap last time and certainly wasn't disgraced; mid-division, not fluent second, ridden 4 out, went second next, kept on straight (pulled clear of rest), no impression on winner.

easy to back, lacked the experience of the pair that beat him and seemed unsuited by the emphasis on speed dropping down to 2m; chased clear leader, lost place fifth, outpaced before 3 out, went remote third last.

faced a stiff task in this grade on just his third start over hurdles and certainly isn't one to write off, his year-older brother Battleoverdoyen having won a Grade 1 novice over 2½m just a week earlier; chased leaders, went second fifth, driven after 3 out, weakening when hit last.

didn't quite have the chance the market suggested having just her second start over hurdles and failed to meet expectations; held up, ridden between 3 out and 2 out, soon beaten (found to be blowing hard post race).

A Grade 2 with a fine recent roll of honour, Vautour and Douvan each taking the race en route to success in the Supreme at Cheltenham in their respective novice hurdling campaigns, but this renewal didn't appear one of the stronger ones beforehand and it wasn't that competitive, the winner seen to maximum effect, soon with a healthy advantage, one that only briefly looked like being challenged.

FELIX DESJY (FR) had similar positive tactics employed to Limerick last month and justified good support, seeing the job through this time, clearly suited by the drop back to 2m; went with enthusiasm and soon well clear, shaken up before 2 out, in control when jumped left last, driven out; he'll likely be seen in a Grade 1 next time, the Supreme the obvious target if heading to the Cheltenham Festival having finished sixth in the Champion Bumper last season, but similar tactics won't be easy to pull off there, and he's got more improvement to find, too.
