The favourite put up no fight after forcing a sound gallop, which left the way clear for 2 of the 3 to have contested the Bronte Cup at York to fill the first 2 positions, the overall form probably a little below the expected standard.

VOODOO QUEEN made the most of a what became a good opportunity but still impressed with the fuss-free style in which she capitalised, making the breakthrough outside handicaps with a performance that highlights she's a better filly as a 4-y-o; never far away, going well when switched entering straight, quickened to lead over 1f out, soon clear, the drop in trip not an issue whatsoever.

ONE EVENING had to settle for finishing behind Voodoo Queen again but closed the gap from York and shaped well, considering how little went her way in contrast to the winner's run through; bumped start, raced well off the pace, going well when had to wait for gap home turn, switched inside straight, kept on well to take second without being unduly punished; in fine hands, her career is only a handful of runs old and she's threatening to stand her racing better this year.

CHING SHIH (IRE) wasn't seen to very best effect, despite filling third in another listed race with a hood removed after 8 weeks off, though the pair ahead are still her superior; soon steadied, forced wide from 4f out, stayed on well inside final 1f.

THREE PRIESTS (JPN) got straight back on track 8 weeks on from her Brighton handicap flop, fourth best on the day even if not enjoying a completely clear passage, her reappearance second to Queen of Ipanema adding credence to this personal best; waited with, travelled fluently, going well when had to wait for gap approaching straight, effort entering final 1f, no extra only close home.

THANKS MONICA (IRE) was beaten by more than lack of fitness after 8 weeks off, coming up short at this level for the fourth time in as many tries; mid-division, out wide, never going well from 5f out, plugged on straight.

SEA FLAWLESS (IRE) failed to meet expectations, like old rival One Evening making only her fourth start but, unlike that one, in the space of only 4 months; mid-division, took keen hold, pushed along end of back straight, forced to switch over 1f out, not quicken.

MADAME AMBASSADOR is better than she could show, ending up much further back than at Ayr for all that form hardly appeals as rock solid; raced off the pace, took keen hold, lost place before straight, held when no room final 1f.

PENNYMOOR shaped better than at Doncaster but still disappointed with her finishing effort; settled in touch, smooth headway out wide end of back straight, led entering straight, headed over 1f out, found less than looked likely.

ICYKEL (IRE) shaped a bit better than the distance beaten suggests; pressed leader, led briefly home turn, no response final 1f.

CAIUS CHORISTER (FR) arrived with handicap form of the standard to make her the one to beat but ran too badly to be true; broke well, led until home turn, found little, possibly amiss.
