picked up where he left off after 11 weeks off, making amends for those 2 runner-up efforts, improving in leaps and bounds overall; chased leader, challenged over 3f out, went on approaching home turn, found plenty; he's already reached a high rating for one whose career is in its infancy but there's even better to come, one to keep on the right side for a while yet.

got back on track, a lot to like about how he shaped behind an unexposed 3-y-o, the only one able to go with that rival in the straight, having settled better than so often; in touch, travelled well, good headway entering straight, chased leader over 1f out, stayed on.

seemed beaten on merit, the pair ahead just having more to recommend them overall; forced pace, headed approaching straight, kept on until well inside final 1f, no extra.

ran much better than last time, proving his stamina for the trip, though he never carried much of a win threat in a stronger race than the one he'd won over shorter here in June; in touch, pushed along over 3f out, one paced.

ran to form but was probably undone by a 5 lb higher mark above all, notwithstanding he was ridden more patiently than usual; off pace, ridden over 3f out, headway final 1f, never on terms.

Non Runners: PLUTOCRACY (IRE), CRAGGAKNOCK.

Winning Owner: Mr D C Batey & Mr Foster Watson

Time: 2m 40.03s Closing Sectional: (2.00f): 27.65s (96.1%)

A good standard of handicap, ensuring the progressive winner didn't have it all his own way against his elders, though by the end he'd highlighted his superiority, despite having been partly responsible for the gallop increasing over 3f out.

HERNANDOSHIDEAWAY picked up where he left off after 11 weeks off, making amends for those 2 runner-up efforts, improving in leaps and bounds overall; chased leader, challenged over 3f out, went on approaching home turn, found plenty; he's already reached a high rating for one whose career is in its infancy but there's even better to come, one to keep on the right side for a while yet.

PENHILL got back on track, a lot to like about how he shaped behind an unexposed 3-y-o, the only one able to go with that rival in the straight, having settled better than so often; in touch, travelled well, good headway entering straight, chased leader over 1f out, stayed on.

LEADERENE seemed beaten on merit, the pair ahead just having more to recommend them overall; forced pace, headed approaching straight, kept on until well inside final 1f, no extra.

LIBERTY RED (GER) ran much better than last time, proving his stamina for the trip, though he never carried much of a win threat in a stronger race than the one he'd won over shorter here in June; in touch, pushed along over 3f out, one paced.

QANAN ran to form but was probably undone by a 5 lb higher mark above all, notwithstanding he was ridden more patiently than usual; off pace, ridden over 3f out, headway final 1f, never on terms.

BLUE HUSSAR (IRE) again finished well held, never even landing a blow.
