proved at least as good as ever, this his first success since landing the bet365 Gold Cup on the final day of the 2016/17 season; pressed leader, travelled as well as any, edged ahead 2 out, ridden approaching last, asserted final 100 yds; stays well and will be fresher than most he'll meet if kept on the go over the next few months, The Summer Cup at Uttoxeter in 4 weeks - in which he finished fourth last year - again likely to come under consideration.

who won this race last year, confirmed his return to form, though will likely be burdened with a career-high mark next time; went in snatches (needed early reminders), led second, not fluent 5 out (though jumped well otherwise), ridden before next, headed 2 out, still every chance last, no extra only near finish.

The most valuable race ever held at Perth, though whether this constitutes strong form is open to question, the field largely made up of exposed/averagely-treated sorts and a prominent position proving crucial.

HENLLAN HARRI (IRE) proved at least as good as ever, this his first success since landing the bet365 Gold Cup on the final day of the 2016/17 season; pressed leader, travelled as well as any, edged ahead 2 out, ridden approaching last, asserted final 100 yds; stays well and will be fresher than most he'll meet if kept on the go over the next few months, The Summer Cup at Uttoxeter in 4 weeks - in which he finished fourth last year - again likely to come under consideration.

BEEVES (IRE) who won this race last year, confirmed his return to form, though will likely be burdened with a career-high mark next time; went in snatches (needed early reminders), led second, not fluent 5 out (though jumped well otherwise), ridden before next, headed 2 out, still every chance last, no extra only near finish.

LOOKING WELL (IRE) ran respectably after a further 7 weeks off despite being unsuited by the drop in trip; mid-field, outpaced after 4 out, headway under pressure early in straight, went fourth last, closed all the way to the line.

MARTILOO (FR) whose form when beating Indian Temple last time had been given a boost earlier on the card, shaped like a non-stayer upped in trip and almost certainly remains in good form; raced along inside in mid-division, slow third (water jump), went third 5 out, loomed up approaching 3 out, ridden last, faded close home.

TAKINGRISKS (IRE) wasn't disgraced after 9 weeks off though has work to do from his present mark; mid-field, mistake first, went third sixth, fourth when pushed along entering straight, one paced.

MAGGIO (FR) back in headgear, wasn't on a going day; raced off the pace, still behind when reminders after twelfth, merely plugged on.

LORD BALLIM (FR) failed to repeat last effort; in rear, not always fluent, some headway after twelfth, one paced straight.

CHARMIX (FR) failed to come on for recent run/stable debut; held up, jumped left at times, struggling before 5 out.

RAINY CITY (IRE) ran poorly back up in trip, let down by his jumping in the latter stages; held up, closing when untidy 4 out, ridden before next, weakening when blundered last.

PAIN AU CHOCOLAT (FR) found his brief run of good form coming to an abrupt halt, beaten before the 4f longer trip became a factor; close up, pecked tenth, lost place before next, weakening when untidy 4 out.

SADLER'S RISK (IRE) hasn't shown form in some time; mid-field, untidy tenth, blundered twelfth, reminders soon after, weakening when bad mistake 3 out, pulled up before next.
