completed a handicap hat-trick back from 6 weeks off, some turnaround for one who became so sour for his former yard, though this latest success fell into his lap courtesy of the half-hearted runner-up; chased leader, driven before straight, edged ahead before 2 out, headed last, looked held inside final 1f, rallied to lead again near finish, outbattled runner-up; a fourth straight win promises to prove beyond him.

should have followed up from Warwick but, as at Wetherby last autumn, he threw away a race that was his with a dramatic late show of irresolution; in touch, travelled best, not fluent 2 out, led when untidy again last, looked in control well inside final 1f but carried head awkwardly and turned it in near finish, collared at the death; he's one to be wary of.

Almost half the field arrived on the back of a win, a couple of 10-y-os from that group 'fighting out' a finish of changing fortunes, but that shouldn't disguise what was essentially a substandard handicap for the grade, one made worse by a number of poor efforts in behind, a strong pace putting plenty out of their comfort zone.

BEEVES (IRE) completed a handicap hat-trick back from 6 weeks off, some turnaround for one who became so sour for his former yard, though this latest success fell into his lap courtesy of the half-hearted runner-up; chased leader, driven before straight, edged ahead before 2 out, headed last, looked held inside final 1f, rallied to lead again near finish, outbattled runner-up; a fourth straight win promises to prove beyond him.
